“Martial arts, in my mind, is an essential skill, like swimming.”

DAD

In my mind, martial arts is an essential skill for life. The ability to defend yourself is very important. So they have to learn a martial art just like they have to learn how to swim.

I looked around at various schools, and I found this one to be the most structured and organized, and that’s what I believe kids need. They need structure. They need organization and consistency.

They rotate between what they do from month to month. So the fact that we know what happens and we can prepare for it is important to me.

I studied Japanese jujitsu. Thereafter, I studied Taekwondo,

One of the reasons why I decided to enroll my kids and not teach them myself was because what I found here that was good is the instructors are patient. They are of the impression that you know, they’re here to learn. Have fun.

This school’s approach in terms of mixed martial arts, it’s not just a focus on punching, kicking. It’s not just a focus on ground fighting. It does both.

It does weapons, it does ground, and it does stand up. In my mind, you need all three elements

MOM

We were talking about what kind of activities are available for our girls. And we tried dance with my older daughter.

We tried gymnastics with both her and my older daughter, and she was a little bit nervous at first. But this is more her thing than like dance would be or gymnastics.

And I like the idea of her learning how to defend herself. I think that’s important.

DAD

Yeah.

My son started in the program. I really liked the Ninja Tots.

It’s a good introduction to the mixed martial arts.

It’s more relaxed, so the kids can have fun and goof around a little bit while still learning the discipline of martial arts.

The reason we came down here is because he was having some trouble in school with reacting too much to small things that happened, and it’s really helped build his self-confidence.

He feels like he can defend himself in situations.

So I think that there’s no nervousness going into situations because he’s scared of what could happen.

You can try it for just a week. You can go for a free class and you can see if you enjoy it or not.

And if your kid enjoys it or not,

It’s a good way to introduce discipline to a child.

They learn how to listen really well. And that’s very important for children.

I think it’s a fun class, too. She loves it. It’s fun.

I didn’t know what to expect. I wanted him to be involved with physical activity. I thought the discipline of the martial arts would be really good for him.

But the added part of that goal setting, that’s been a really pleasant surprise to see it’s actually a fabulous program. He sets goals for himself. He is motivated to come and participate.

I see his confidence grow. Being a part of this club. It’s something that he can transfer. Yes, because there are times when we’ve talked about school work, and I’ve used his goal settings through MMA as an example of setting goals for himself in school. I have seen that happen.

"You will not find a better place!"

"My kids have been attending Unity for over 2 years now and I can really see an improvement in their self-confidence. The staff is very warm and accommodating, but also professional and disciplined when it comes to martial arts. With offerings of Taekwondo, Kung Fu, and Kickboxing, you will not find a better place to cultivate a tenacious spirit for self-discovery, or to develop your skill as a martial artist."

“It’s Really Helped To Build His Confidence.”

Dad
“My son really likes it. You know, it’s a longer class, so he gets a little more exercise.

He feels like he can defend himself in situations. So I think that there’s no nervousness going into situations to be scared of what could happen, I guess.

And it’s really helped build his self-confidence. So now he’s more likely to ignore the conflict than to lash out at it.

“Martial Arts Is An Essential Skill, Like Swimming.”

“In my mind, martial arts is an essential skill for life. The ability to defend yourself is very important. So they have to learn a martial art just like they have to learn how to swim.

“I Have Huge Respect For The Instructors.”

Mom

There is a lot of respect from the instructors to the students.

And I see the respect from the students for the instructors too. The instructors
expect a lot from the students and the students really do their very
best to meet those expectations.

Which I think tells you that the instructors are well-liked and well respected and as a mom, I have huge respect for them.”

Great instructors that not only care about how the students develop martial arts skills, but also how they develop their life skills. We drive past a lot of other schools to get there, but it is definitely worth it. Everyone is like family."

WITH ITS MODERN CURRICULUM, UNITY MARTIAL ARTS
HAS GREAT BENEFITS FOR CHILDREN

IMPROVE FOCUS AND CONCENTRATION

Today’s children pay less attention than ever to their teachers and don’t focus easily. This affects their ability to learn, which is why kids should be trained in martial arts classes at Empower Kickboxing™. Martial arts training will help children focus for longer periods of time by training their muscles and mind.

SELF-DISCIPLINE AND INTERNAL FORTITUDE

In a world where the most vile images and information is a click away, children need the self-discipline and internal fortitude to recognize and resist temptation online and in everyday life.

SELF-CONFIDENCE

Nothing helps a child to build confidence than achieving a goal while learning valuable self-defense and martial arts skills that can erase all of the fear and anxiety of dealing with bullies, rude kids, and cyber-punks.

LEARN A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE EARLY

Few things can impact the quality of life than their health. We teach children about the dangers of over-eating and what foods are healthy and those that are not as healthy. This message often has more impact for children when they can see strong, healthy black belts that they may want to immulate.

We Are MATA Certified

The Martial Arts Teachers’ Association (MATA) Instructor Certification was authored by 18 different veteran black belts who are also experts in their professional fields such as psychology, motivation, pedagogy, movement science, and communication.

We know that walking into a martial arts school can be intimidating. That’s why are staffed with professional instructors trained in modern teaching methods and certified by the Martial Arts Teachers’ Association.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS FROM PARENTS

My child is shy and introverted. How will that affect his participation in class?

If there is any common success story from our martial arts program it’s students and parents telling us how we helped their child to “come out of his/her shell.”

We have specfic drills and exercises that are highly effective for helping students take small steps towards a more confident presence.

My child has a very short attention span. Can you work with that?

Little Dragons is our martial arts class for young children. We understand that keeping attention can be a real challenge with this age group.

That’s why our program is fast moving and engaging for the children.

Our instructors are also experts at helping children to re-focus in class until it becomes natural to the child.

My child is not very active and never liked sports before.

It’s all in the presentation, especially with children. One of the strongest benefits of our martial arts for children program is instilling and motivating a desire to have a healthier diet and body.

This may be one of the best long-term benefits of training at our school.

My child has a "my way or no way!" attitude. Can this help?

One of the somewhat magical effects of our martial arts classes for kids is mix of psychology and physiology.

We often think of the mental disciplines of martial arts but the physical disciplines are just as important and emphasized just as much.

Recognizing and resisting urges to act out are central to the discipline of making sure a student is not abusing the training.

That includes developing the self-control not to act out.

My child is constantly fighting with his sister. Are we putting her at risk?

The responsible use of martial arts for good rather than harm is central to everything we teach.

Parents of our martial arts students are consistently impressed with how our training helps to mature the children in different ways and temper control is one of them.

Much of that has to do with a heighten self-awareness to recognize when things are “heating up” and how to de-excalate.”

My child has a history of quitting new activities.

When you enroll your child into our school to help with self-discipline, it’s crucial that you work with the instructors to set clear expectations.

This starts with your child clearly understanding that the first discipline is to come to class twice a week and practice two non-class days.

To help you with that the child psychologists in the Martial Arts Teachers’ Association’s Certification program suggest you be aware of what activity the child is engaged right before getting ready for class.

If they are playing their favorite game, they may be more resistant to shifting attention than if they were cleaning their room or doing yard work. :0)
